Frequently Asked Questions
-
What kind of timber do you use?For steering wheels, you can choose between Kwila, Tasmanian Oak, Silky Oak and Victorian Ash, or If you would like your steering wheel to be made from any other variety of timber outside this range, just let me know and I will endeavour to source this for you. For wooden spokes with steel felloes I use air dried Spotted Gum. For wooden felloe wheels I use kiln dried Victorian Ash, plus Spotten Gum spokes.
-
Will you sell me the spokes so I can fix my own wheels? No. I would prefer to make the wheel as one item. This way the wheels are made tighter and you will get a better finished product.
-
How long will it take to make my wheels? This depends on whether it's a wooden felloe or steel felloe wheel. A wooden felloe wheel will take approximately 3 months, and a steel felloe wheel, approximately 6-8 weeks. Steering wheels take approximately 4 weeks.
-
How should I prepare the metal before sending it to you?Preferably you should send painted rims, and cleaned and painted hubs, with all the required bolts and fittings cleaned and painted. If you cannot supply the bolts, I can supply them for you at a reasonable cost. Contact us for pricing. We do not supply rims, however if you require rims, we recommend Vintage Rims Australia.

What payment types do you accept?I accept direct bank transfer or cash payment. Contact us for bank details. I kindly request a 25% deposit before commencing work, with the remaining amount due before shipping the finished product.
